This article began with a simple question: Should organizations measure employees' use of AI in performance reviews? At the time, the conversation around workplace AI focused primarily on basic adoption and policy, leaving this important question largely unexplored.

To develop a well-rounded perspective, I partnered with SHRM's research team to commission original research, incorporated findings from external sources, and interviewed both internal and external subject matter experts. The result is a research-driven feature that examines an emerging workplace issue through multiple lenses, delivering timely insights and practical guidance for HR leaders.
